Steaks from Heartland Meats are very flavorful! To get a true flavor experience, we recommend not to season the steaks heavily - at least the first few times you enjoy our steaks! Due to the tenderness of Piedmontese beef, marinading is not necessary for steak cuts. The Piedmontese cattle breed emerged from Piedmont, Italy, the alpine region which is a secluded pocket, naturally protected by the Alps. In the early 1980’s the first Piedmontese were introduced to North America. The combination of naturally lean meat with a tender texture and remarkable flavor in many ways far out-paces competing breeds. Pat & John Sondgeroth own and operate Heartland Meats on their family farm in Mendota IL. They own and operate their own USDA inspected processing plant where they ONLY process their own meats and are very proud to be the only beef processor in the nation to be American Humane Certified. Their animals are grandpa's finished, they spend lots of time out on pasture but also get a non gmo corn silage added to their daily diet. No hormones, antibiotics, or animal biproducts are added to their feeds.
